WORLD OF WHIMSY
Teen angst is usually expressed in a dark manner, but Mulberry creative director Emma Hill put her own bittersweet spin on her Junior-friendly Spring collection, citing Sofia Coppola’s lovely yet haunting film “The Virgin Suicides”, about beautiful suburban sisters in 1970s, as this season’s source of inspiration. A touch of fantasy permeated the collection, as models strutted around a carousel centerpiece, all wearing a feminine array of separates and dresses that were accessorized with the label’s bright bags and shoes, as well as the occasional bulldog decked out matching attire. Denim, printed separates, floppy bows and soft leather all felt revitalized with a slightly bohemian yet ladylike twist.
