Milan: Moschino’s secondary, younger collection is always a bit less serious than its main line, full of bright colors and humorous touches. S/S 11 was a cheerful exploration of color and pattern, as well as youthful classics like schoolgirl uniforms and message graphics. As indicated by a shaggy yellow sweater, the word of the day was “smile”, and its direction was heeded by the models as well as the clothes, whose oversized, contrasting patterns added energy to gathered, body-conscious dresses and low-slung trousers. Graphic, vintage-inspired ensembles in black, yellow and white rounded out the show, with clean gingham, circular perforations and kitschy bow embellishments serving as a playful nod to Cheap & Chic’s trendy, spirited customer.
