PUNK LADY KITSCH
London: Ladylike punk ruled at Moschino Cheap and Chic this season, a theme perfectly suited to the wider audience gained by the brand’s savvy move from Milan to the London schedule. Designer Rosella Jardini created a burst of energy with Stephen Sprouse-style script prints applied to stretchy halter dresses, leggings and silk blouses as well as super short skirts. But while the silhouette was daringly cropped with dropped waist tunics and bubble hem minis, the collection’s true punk elements came via oversized studs, innovative high-heeled creeper mary janes and chain link belts with padlock charms. Black lipstick and futuristic sunglasses gave further contrast to Jardini’s genteel pearl embellished pieces and bubble gum pink tuxedos trimmed in fluffy Mongolian fur were delightful kitsch fun.—Nina Stotler
