LIFE’S A PARADE
Milan: With a marching band soundtrack playing in the background, the F/W 12 Moschino collection had the upbeat feel of a parade. Bandleader jackets, satin capes and pleated cheerleader skirts embodied the theme, while details like gold buttons, contrast piping and epaulets were applied to mod shifts and A-line coats as a more subtle nod to band uniforms. In addition to black and white, a palette of primary colors kept things simple, and made for graphic color-blocking on active-inspired leggings and turtlenecks. Quilting was a key texture, employed on a variety of items from leather coats to opera-length gloves to shoulder bags and clutches, while paillettes, appliqués and fringe added luxe embellishment to flirty evening looks. Accessories were plentiful and playful — gold hoop earrings, jumbo heart pendants and little leather waist pouches. — Anna Jane Davis
