With an Endless Summer vibe and a retro feel, Montauk is the perfect place to escape, relax and celebrate the 4th of July weekend. Only 125 miles from New York City, home to the coolest and most eclectic surf shops, Montauk is an urban surfer’s paradise.
Buzzworthy hotel/restaurant/bar, The Surf Lodge located at Fort Pond, you’ll find the Surf Bazzar, designed by Rogan Gregory, the shop offers boldly colored clothing from labels such as Suno, Mara Hoffman and Alexandra Cassaniti.
And for the 4th of July weekend, Rogan is releasing a small collection of Loomstate board shorts and shirts inspired by the summer energy at the lodge. In addition to surfing, guests can keep busy during the day with activities like kayak, canoe, and bicycle rentals. We actually rented some bikes during our stay there last summer and road all the way to the tip of Montauk! So fun.
At Tauk, a laid back lifestyle shop, the goods are wide ranging with the perfect mixture of vintage and modern. Products include Olasul Cyan boardshorts, Built By Wendy surf inspired tees and artwork that pay homage to Montauk’s eccentric coastal vibe.
For surf lessons and Patagonia wetsuits, head to Air and Speed Surf Shop, a thirteen year old authentic local fave. For summer, Air and Speed has released their first collection of vintage washed out, light weight tees and is running a surf camp for the 10th year in a row.
So whether you’re on the beach to catch a few waves or a few rays be sure to stay till sundown and watch the stars over Montauk firework display happening on Saturday 9-10 pm at the region’s most beautiful coast line.
