New York: Inspired by the 1952 winter Olympic games in Helsinki, the F/W 13 collection from Maison Martin Margiela’s diffusion line MM6 aimed to create an athletic sportswear aesthetic with a presentation of sporty and functional pieces. Produced in a wider range of colors than usual for the brand, the presentation centered on outerwear grounded by slim leggings, opaque knit tights or ribbed leg warmers, and included cozy capes, cropper puffer jackets in a trompe l’oeil fox fur print as well as boxy teddy-bear fur jackets. Accessories, as always, were experimental—oversized triangle bags, purse clasps re-imagined as jewelry and platform loafers and oxfords that verged on the orthopedic.—Nina Stotler
