Milan: For F/W 12, Angela Missoni offered up a fresh crop of her family’s signature knits in a collection inspired by an eccentric British professor. Putting a new spin on traditional English garb like parkas, toggle coats, argyle sweaters, patchwork vests worn by Dorset farmers, and smoking jackets favored by aristocrats, the show perfectly married Italian and Anglo influences.  The multiple layers and fabric mixes were further accentuated in a rich, Earthen color palette, and marled yarns that added dimension. A subtle hint of the great outdoors in the way of printed puffer vests, belted cardi-coats and Fair Isle motifs added just the right amount of rugged masculinity for a collection focused on wearable luxury.  —Michael Fisher
