: Angela Missoni has been pushing the venerable house forward over the past few seasons with great success. The tribal elements that she explored for the recent Resort collection returned, this time in a more broad way, referencing not only Africa, but also Indonesia, Jamaica and South America. Many pieces were a collage of pattern and graffiti-like text, while other ensembles featured colorblocked panels of the signature Missoni zigzag, sectioned off with a wide black border. Pavé sequins added a glittery touch to the already eye-popping motifs. The final looks featured blocky letters that were reminiscent of artist Jenny Holzer’s famous LED signs, with lines from vintage soul and hip-hop songs like “Get up off that thing” and “Shake your rump”. While the wide range of references could be dizzying at times, the vibrant tones and sense of humor made for a cheerful mood and proved Missoni’s determination to remain young and relevant.
