Michael Kors

OUT OF AFRICA
New York: Michael Kors may have a chosen few amount of influences with which he successfully explores every season, but S/S 12 is the first time he took the somewhat expected safari look and elevated it in such a way that seems new and exciting. Making use of things like animal prints, hand-dyeing techniques, djellabas, and accessories like crocodile-strap cross-body bags and gladiator sandals brought a refreshing level of authenticity and newness to American sportswear. Whether on a walk through a safari, or through SoHo, Kors’ summer collection was all about rugged textures, sunset-like pop colors and breezy layers.  —Michael Fisher
