For the Michael Kors consumer, the release of his resort collections are a key date for the diary. Kors himself has said in the past that resort accounts for 65 per cent of the business, and this season he has once again hit the nail on the head with his collection that offers something for his staple Kors fan, his growing Millennial consumer and the older consumer who just wants to find a summer dress with sleeves. That is Kors’ speciality, he is a luxury designer who caters specifically to the consumer with pieces that are commercial and guaranteed to perform well, but with enough innovation to dazzle his Millennial consumer base who lives on Instagram and wants more visual stimulation.
This season it was all about colour, bold bright yellows. As our Colour editor Hannah Craggs explains, pure primary colours like this bold yellow are making a return within the cultural zeitgeist, and nothing says we want optimism like the return of this lemon yellow. The pieces themselves are versatile for all shapes and sizes, from flowing kaftan shapes to daring cutout black stretch matte jersey dresses that take you from sand to soiree as he puts it, while showcasing those abs that you got in your SoulCycle class.
