Michael Kors celebrates American classics for S/S 20

THE LUXE OUTDOORS
New York: Michael Kors is no stranger to the good life, and for F/W 12, he took his glitz and glamor to the ski lodges of Aspen or some other similar blue-blooded haven. “I thought about the ‘30s and those glamorous Hollywood couples — the Clark Gables and Carole Lombards,” he said in an interview before the show. Modern jet-setters want clothes for a life that is sometimes sporty, sometimes dressy, but always sophisticated. There was a loose ski motif through this collection, although Kors said he was more concerned with the apres-ski life at the lodge that he favors more than the slopes themselves. Bold tartans and brushed shadow plaids made up most of the assortment, while marled sweaters and dramatic shaggy coats added a cozy dimension. This was a collection that only a park ranger via Park Avenue could love. —Michael Fisher
