New York: Fans of Michael Kors know that he has never been one to shy away from tapping Hollywood’s rich legacy for seasonal design inspiration. For f/w 12, the Kors girl has embarked upon a cold weather getaway in looks that appear to loosely homage Barbara Stanwyck in 1947’s The Other Love. Unlike Stanwyck’s Swiss romp, upon Kors’ runway there was a decidedly American affair as mitred-bias buffalo check skirts and chunky fisherman sweaters met blanket-striped ponchos and shearling stadium coats. The super-edited palette made for a graphically rhythmic presentation within which beaded, flapper-style frocks supplied the finale’s crescendo. –Kibwe Chase-Marshall
