Luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton brings the vision of French architect and designer Charlotte Perriand to Art Basel’s Design Miami with the unveiling of La maison au bord de l’eau (the house on the water). This U-shaped beach house was conceived in 1934, but just now put into effect. Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO, Michael Burke, says of the project, “It’s a nice way of paying homage to one of the first modern designs of the 20th century.”
Complete with Iroko wood slates and a marine blue roof, this airy space doubles as a showcase for Louis Vuitton’s 2014 Icônes collection. The minimalist wooden house is on view at the beach of the Raleigh Hotel through Saturday. –Sarah Ryan Hecht
