Menswear Monday: A Vested Interest

If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s when guys complain about their perceived lack of fashion options. For reasons I can’t even begin to wrap my tired mind around, most guys seem to have the misguided notion that jeans and t-shirts are the beginning and end of their weekend wardrobes. Wrong! The simple addition of a sleeveless, buttoned wonder known as the vest is all a boy needs to add a touch of class (or rock n’ roll) to any outfit, from jeans and a tee to khakis and a button-down. Just get dressed as usual (from the hamper, the floor, whatever), throw on a vest and bang! You’re totally stylish! People will assume you made a real effort! You look dandy and everybody wins. From the vaults of Stylesight, here are examples straight off the runway of this effortlessly cool look. Click on the ‘more’ tab to see vests taking over the streets worldwide, and don’t come complaining to me about your lack of options!

My love of men in vests began with thick middle aged men in sweater vests, their suspenders now and then peeking out. I have since moved on, but feel slighted. The only time I ever get to see a man in a vest is at a wedding or when some dude walks by in a mealy looking fleece vest. I believe in men wearing fashionable vests, and I love your post.
