Men's Spring/Summer '08: Burberry Gets Geeky

This morning I woke up cursing my cell phone’s alarm (‘Salut d’Amour’ is getting old) and wanting to go back to sleep for at least seven more minutes. And then it hit me: Stylesight’s extensive coverage of the men’s Spring/Summer ’08 RTW shows in Milan begins today! And I get to look at them and write about them and generally crawl inside of a menswear cocoon of sorts for a while! In case you can’t tell, I have a soft spot for boys’ fashion. I don’t think it gets nearly enough attention here in the blogosphere, or anywhere else really, so I’m super excited to share my love with images straight from Stylesight. I’ll be covering as much ground as I can, so keep checking back for updates and don’t forget to click ‘more!’

I’ve seen the future, and the future is Burberry. Kicking off the collection was this classic trench, updated with orange and a luggage strap like belt.

With this collection, Burberry managed to make sunglass straps look cool. These Water Shoes are a different story altogether. No no no. I spent most of my childhood trying to avoid these things.

I love the color combination here, and the volume on the jacket. Hell, I’m even into the mandals, which is surprising.

Thom Browne length pants, Yves Klein blue sequined top, white coat belted in a feminine way AND a tote bag! Do wonders never cease!

Space age fabrics were huge in this collection and worked well on typically ‘boring’ items such as suits. Also, more sequins!

Pink see through PVC might not be the most obvious choice for dress shirts, but it works!

The old-schoolest Burberry jam of the collection was this tan coat, but check the boxy cut and piping for proof of evolution.

The gold brocade on this jacket reminded me of a ribcage. It also reminded me of PERFECTION.

But then I saw this Elvis-y gold sequined jacket paired with black pants and a simple white tee and my definition of perfection was revised.

How amazingly intricate is this sweater? Also, three cheers for epaulets!
