Brazilian shoe company Melissa, famous for their quirky molded plastic footwear, has expanded their reach in recent years with a series of savvy, limited edition collaborations. Moving beyond the basic jelly slip-on, Melissa has tapped fashion luminaries like Mugler, Alexandre Herchcovitch and Vivienne Westwood as well as industrial designers like Karim Rashid and Zaha Hadid to produce fanciful, yet practical rainproof pieces. This spring the brand goes back to the beginning, debuting new work from one of their original partners, Jean Paul Gaultier. The result is a delicate, intriguing transparent high heel with a thin profile and on-trend color combination, arriving just in time for Melissa’s 30th anniversary.
