At WGSN, we’ve analysed the A/W 17/18 global catwalks and put the spotlight on the key trends for womenswear, particularly skewed towards young women and the youth market (check out a teaser here). But it’s not just the ready to wear looks that make the outfit, accessories and footwear matter just as much. And so, for main site subscribers we’ve put together an in-depth report on the key catwalk must-haves (literally from head to toe), and for the WGSN Insider blog we created three fashion personas that encapsulate some of the key must-have items from our extensive report (subscribers get the report here).
First up, party girls of the world unite and meet our fashion persona aptly named LET’S RAVE. This is for the girl who wants to make a statement on the dance floor, from her party earring (spotted on the catwalk at Jeremy Scott and Saint Laurent) to the sequinned mini dress (seen at Saint Laurent and Versace). She finishes her look perfectly by grabbing her statement shine bag, and running out the door to get to the club.
Softer, but still packing a serious high fashion punch is YOUNG ROMANCE.
This lady floats through life with her ethereal looking romance maxi dress (spotted at Chloe and Off-White) teamed with her evening romance Mary-Jane shoes, decorated with diamanté details. Then the only thing left is to pop her iPhone in her smartphone only mini bag and hit the road.
Finally it’s all about the PRAIRIE GIRL, but forget images of Laura Ingalls Wilder from Little House on the Prairie, this is high fashion after all. The Shearling jacket is key to the look (check out Marc Jacobs, Coach and R13 for inspiration). And slides get a warmer makeover, with the rise of furry slides (alluding to sport and loungewear influences).
