So what about her denim wardrobe? We spoke to Evangelie to find out some of her style secrets, rules for dressing and go-to brands when it comes to jeans:

How has your journey with denim had changed, and how do you feel the fashion industry’s attitude towards denim has changed?

I remember my denim-journey to start with the classic 501 in high school when the trend needed them tighter, so tight in fact that all of my classmates sported camel toes, it continued with the skinny jeans, simply because the 501s was not narrow enough. Then everything went distressed, most probably because our limbs wanted some air, continued with the boyfriends, loose and comfy to end up back to the classics, to Levis or reconstructed Levis.

I think the industry sees the denim nowadays as the main pieces of their collections and pay a lot of attention to create pieces that are unique and different, it’s tough because denim has a classic core that needs to keep up.

What is the most common thing you are asked about your denim from readers?

They always ask how is the fit, if it fits large or small because they want to see themselves inside it before buying it.

What jeans do you always wear? What are your go-to faves?

A pair of vintage (and recently ripped 501s)

How many pairs do you own?

Honestly, I have never counted them. I have A LOT though!

Which brand do you favor most currently?

I love the newest collaboration of Vetements with Levis because of their classic fabrics and colors.

Are there any cool Greek fashion brands emerging and is what is the attitude towards denim in your hometown/country?

There are a lot of cool Greek brands emerging even globally, there’s actually a fashion boom lately in Greece. A lot of brilliant new minds and artists.

What’s your favorite denim trend to emerge over the last year and why?

I think it’s the reconstructed denim from Vetements because they keep the classics with a cool twist.

What are the most important things you consider when purchasing a pair of jeans?

Well, I love them to be high-waisted and fit well around the hips. I’m also very strict with the color and fabric. Some denim also tends to stretch and get loose after some days of wearing them so I always ask people who I know that already have them how is their fit over the time. As for the color I always, always prefer the classic ones, for example, the color of a vintage Levis.

Do you prefer to shop new or vintage denim? Vintage denim is always more enjoyable to shop, It’s almost like treasure hunting. Hard to find the precious one but when it happens….it’s the best.
