Media: Birds Eye View Film Festival, London

Taking place in London between  March 8-17, The Birds Eye View film festival celebrates female filmmakers around the world for the seventh year running, opening on International Women’s Day at the BFI Southbank, London.

With a program spanning documentaries, short films and silent movies, we are especially intrigued by this year’s Bloody Women retrospective, examining women’s contribution to the horror film genre as well the Fashion Films section of the festival. Showcasing film work by designers, fine artists and photographers- the fashion films segment explores the crossover between fashion, art and advertising. Curated by fashion filmmaker Kathryn Ferguson, whose recent credits include a Dazed Digital commission starring Lady Gaga, fashion film highlights include Forgetful Green, a collaboration between artist Linder Sterling, photographer Tim Walker and fashion designer Richard Nicoll and Katerina Jebb’s irreverent Simulacrum and Hyperbole, a witty commentary on contemporary consumerism starring Kylie Minogue, Tilda Swinton and Kristin Scott Thomas.
