The ultimate purveyor of cool, Steve McQueen, is once again being celebrated for his effortless style with a new exclusive pair of Persol sunglasses in the 714 model. Available at Sunglass Hut, the eyewear was first made popular in The Thomas Crown Affair and later became a quintessential part of the actor’s wardrobe. One pair was even auctioned for $70,000 in 2006, proving that McQueen’s cool factor lives on today.
Persol is releasing a limited run of 10,000 of the glasses starting at $310, complete with the return of the blue lens, folding closure and Steve McQueen signature emblazoned on the inside of the temple arm and a leather case. The Hollywood legend will also make an appearance in Persol’s 2011 ad campaign. Sunglass Hut is celebrating the launch with a special event tonight at 7PM at their 605 Fifth Avenue location in New York.
