New York: Sarah Burton channeled McQueen’s fascination with traditional English riding culture for the Pre-Fall McQ collection, producing an edgy update on wardrobe staples perfect for a country manor. The designer married the city and the wilderness with forest green velvet riding coats, tailored tweed hunting suits, colorblocked capes, quilted motorcycle jackets and zipper embellished leggings. If the theme wasn’t obvious enough via the silhouettes and the palette, which included a vibrant hunting party red, Burton printed a full-skirted cocktail dress with a haunting image of snarling foxes in the woods. Sharp but approachable, McQ’s latest is the perfect compliment to the more esoteric McQueen line. —Nina Stotler
