Milan: Plush furs have been a key element of many runway shows for the F/W 13 season, but none have looked as comforting and cozy as those at the heart of Max Mara’s Bauhaus-inspired collection. The focus, as always, was on outerwear, which was pushed to the very limits of softness via voluminous teddy-bear furs in a natural warm tan or soft dove grey. Pumped up, layered proportions harmonized with the overall athletic Fall direction, and sporty cable sweaters featured pushed up fur sleeves, while fluid pajama trousers in matte jersey, rich velvet or elegant satin were built for extreme comfort. But Max Mara’s more buttoned up customers had options too, with elongated cardigans, wrap-front sheath dresses and simple Mouflon wool menswear coats—traditional tailored fare that maintained the season’s supple ease.—Nina Stotler
