The other week, while we were at the Amsterdam Kingpins show, an inventive collaboration caught our eye between the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI), the House of Denim school, Diesel, leading Italian laundry, Martelli, and leading Italian mill, Candiani.
The project involved six students from both AMFI and House of Denim School with different specializations: Design, Management and Branding, to create a new denim brand named Kapow. The students were mentored by representatives from the three companies and were granted full access to the Martelli laundry to experiment with various techniques, finishing and laser technology. Kapow is in its early stages and this was the litmus test to see what people thought of their experimental and unique pieces. We loved the beautiful surface effects as well as the colorful digital prints and laser etchings. We can’t wait to see more!
