Milan: Consuelo Castiglioni presented a Fall collection that was both disruptive and minimal in application. The look of clean minimalistic lines pervaded throughout, yet each piece was cleverly controlled in construction and styling. As the show notes state ‘ The expression is firm yet emotional Romanticism gets spliced, tweaked and reconfigured. Sport is a hint. Embellishment recurs.’ The silhouette was rounded with stylized sleeves while curved proportions barely touched the body yet defined the feminine shape. Abstract patterns enlarged in outsized ginghams were an ideal backdrop to the bright embroideries and oversized paillettes placed on sartorial wools, further adding dimension to the play of diagrammatic layers of print, patterns and embellishment. A lineup that was indeed focused on perfection in proportions with a romantic edge. – Lizzy Bowring
