New York: Designing his third collection, Marlon Gobel chose the elaborate Park Avenue Armory with its stunning stained glass windows as the setting for a show titled “Secrets”. A mix of printed velvets, tartan plaids, striped bow ties and fur trims created a certain regal flare, and the designer continued to advocate a strong-shouldered silhouette that is in opposition to other New York catwalks. At times the layering of so many luxurious fabrics came off as a bit too rich, but Gobel (as in previous seasons) did a good job at coming up with an interesting narrative and taking risks with proportions and pattern.
