Paris…Adam Kimmel’s S/S 10 presentation was held in a Parisian gallery in conjunction with a movie of bull rider Rocky McDonald. The inspiration was the epitome of American masculinity, the cowboy. There were interesting dandified elements of the Wild West fashions like colorful piping, boldly hued trousers and neckerchiefs tied just so. Show notes pointed out that much of the collection was reversible, certainly an interesting function of “rodeo-wear”. Unlike authentic cowboy clothes that was typically rendered in stiff canvas and durable leather, Kimmel’s collection made use of softer, more luxurious fabrics that are more appropriate for the designer clientele he typically attracts. The use of shawl collar jackets and double-breasted silhouettes made for an interesting contrast with the overall “down and dirty” look.
