For Maison Martin Margiela fans lamenting the storied designer’s recent departure from the fashion house he founded 20 years ago, a golden opportunity has arisen to acquire signature pieces from the collection. Coinciding with the beginning of New York Fashion Week, “20 years of Maison Martin Margiela: The Marcia Berger Collection,” is on view starting today at One Jackson Square. The exhibit-cum-eventual auction features over 1,000 mint-condition garments and accessories that span Margiela’s entire career from 1989 to the present. A collaboration between vintage aficionados Resurrection and online auctioneer 1stdibs, the exhibit and ensuing auction includes iconic pieces like his coat made of ski gloves or a jacket fashioned out of a discarded dressform.
122 Greenwich Avenue in New York’s West Village. For further information on the auction, visit www.1stdibs.com/margiela/
