London: Delivering exactly what’s come to be expected (and desired) from her, Margaret Howell offered an array of laid-back, tailored garments cut from casual yet sumptuous fabrics. Masculine and feminine silhouettes were mixed; boyfriend blazers were worn with ladylike pleated skirts and dresses, and waist-cinching belts were styled over roomy sweaters and trenchcoats. Coarse tweeds and mélange sweater knits felt humble, while sturdy velvets and corduroys acted as low-maintenance suitings. Fedoras and suede oxfords emphasized a menswear influence.
