NEW YORK…Doesn’t it make sense that the Marc Jacobs show is now New York’s grand finale? At least with the week’s grueling schedule followed by a flight to London, it kept attendees’ interest peaked right up to the end. Not only that but the collection encompassed several themes seen at other shows this week, providing a nice wrap-up. Arguably the strongest being the activewear/sportswear cross-over that Jacobs explored to great effect mixing velour, sweats, grey flannel and popcorn knits together. To emphasize the point girls wore headbands round their foreheads ’80s workout style. Who said comfort wasn’t the new luxury? Outerwear, particularly in soft and slouchy leather, was present, looking especially covetable when rendered in winter pastels. Toward the end there were the Old Hollywood and Smoking looks seen all week with tuxedos and lamé lounging ensembles both. All this and the show started barely 20 minutes behind schedule?
