Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs Cruise/Resort 2012
CASUAL + COOL

New York: Fall’s fancy ladies were nowhere to be found at Marc Jacobs’ current resort collection. Instead, the designer took a much more casual turn, offering up comfy sweatshirts, t-shirt silhouettes and shorts. A palette of faded olive, sun-bleached blues, tan and white added to the laid-back mood. Vintage wallpaper motifs were used for prints, as were daisies, a Jacobs favorite. Details and embellishments – including silver cabochons, shimmery sequins, embroidery and laser-cut metallic faux leather – dressed garments up in a playful way. The tomboyish looks eventually gave way to more feminine pieces, finishing with a spearmint tulle and organza confection that looked youthful yet romantic, and light as air.  –Joanna Manganaro
