SIMPLE + SPORTY
New York: Marc’s vision for his bridge brand’s youthful customer this season was straightforward; looks that blended simple tailored shapes, bold solid colors and active-inspired elements playfully summarized an array of current runway trends. Although not groundbreaking, the clothes were well-executed and very wearable. As is often the case, the line’s outerwear styles were some of its strongest. Trenchcoats offered in unexpected dull tones conjured styles of the late 70s and early 80s, appealingly contrasting the collection’s many Mod 60s-inspired items. Tailored, tapered trousers also had charm, as did a camp shirt that featured tiny bright orange buttons. Cube-shaped leather bags looked new, while flirty pinup swimsuits felt old but good. –Whitney Kessler
