MARC TAKES MIAMI
New York: Envisioning Marc’s New York girl on vacation in Miami, the Marc by Marc Jacobs design team whipped up a C/R 12 collection that crossed Miami’s fiery Latin flavor with the designer’s playful quirk. Wrap dresses, electric colors, tropical floral motifs and lamé fabrics were worked with tailored separates, black leather and nerd glasses. Hair was spun into top-knots that were adorned with flowers, and waist-defining belts created curvaceous silhouettes. The unlikely combinations yielded a mixed bag of looks; while much of the styling had charm, there were a few getups that even the Marc girl might think overly eccentric. –Whitney Kessler
