Manuel De la Cruz

Emerging designer Manuel De la Cruz sought to create a “masculine man who is not afraid to be sexy and exquisitely different.” His S/S 10 collection, named “Faith,” was inspired by the art of the Catholic Church, specifically those he has visited in his native Guatemala. The neutral yet contrasting color palette of khaki, beige, pearl grey and black looked sharp and lively, especially when implemented in lustrous silk jersey and stretch sateen. An extremely cropped shawl-collared jacket took on an innovative proportion when shown with voluminous pants. The tone-on-tone embroidered, pleated shorts, along with dramatic epaulets and crucifix necklaces, made for a ceremonial drama that we are excited to see evolve in the upcoming seasons.
