Maison Martin Margiela

Paris:  Maison Martin Margiela presented a beautifully twisted take on traditional Menswear for F/W 12.  Classic items, like double-breasted camel coats and chunky fisherman sweaters, were juxtaposed against black vinyl trousers, while silky twill suits peeked out from beneath bomber jackets and topcoats constructed out of plastic bags. Lustrous, monochrome ensembles had a feel of luxe subversion (undoubtedly Margiela’s signature), while curly lamb jackets and muskrat fur linings offered rich plushness, and drawstring pants paired with satin lapel dinner jackets fell in line with the haute-active hybrids so prevalent this season.  —Anna Jane Davis
