Table of Contents is a concept shop from Portland that brings the idea of editorial curation to life.

Founded by Joseph Magliaro and Shu Hung, the shop comprises a seasonal selection of covetable and prized products, based on an evolving editorial theme. Their picks include fashion, furniture, tactile objects, vintage magazines, and collectibles from the pair’s own collection. In addition, the shop carries a series of one-off commissions by designers that are inspired by the given theme. Currently, the quote “Action is Character” by esteemed American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Shu Hung was the former editor of now defunct IN magazine. An undeniable passion for the written word, Hung and Magliaro also feature a recurring reading list of 10 books. The book selections are always made by someone they admire, often inspiring new topics to explore for future themes.

Among the surge of curated online consumption and shoppable magazines, it is interesting to see a brick and mortar store in this format — a topic we explore further in our Multichannel Marketing & Beyond report. Table of Contents is a conceptual environment with a personalized character that enables intellectual discovery beyond the seasonal trends.
