As the trend for healthy eating continues to gain pace across the world, Madrid is the latest city to take note, with the El Huerto de Lucas food market taking the commitment one step further. The building itself was constructed by architectural studio More & Co using bio-healthy and toxic-free techniques and materials, while the food itself is of course organic, fresh and wholesome. Situated in the trendy Chueca neighbourhood of the city, where alternative lifestyles live harmoniously side by side, the market boasts a bakery, fruit and veg section, a butcher’s, and a dry goods shop, as well as a fresh juice and coffee bar, while the fish on offer is fresh and ecologically produced. With something on offer for everyone, the lively El Huerto de Lucas makes for a great spot for lunch or coffee. –Emily Cater
