The new MAC Nail Transformations collection includes lacquers that change the appearance of nails through translucence tints.
The inspiration behind the transformative qualities of this collection was informed by nail technician Marian Newman’s background as a former forensic scientist. Together with MAC she realised a collection that invites experimentation with luminescent effects as well as texture.
The collection comprises of three creamy hues in Skin (light peach beige), Quiet Time (beige nude) and Rebel (mid-tone plum) amidst a collection of six top coats designed to further transform nails when painted over any colour as well as bare nails. A sheer black top coat fittingly named Shadow gives a smoky finish to polish, while the Texturize Top Coat creates a matte leather texture when dry. Three Liquid Pigments in Pink Pearl, Green Pearl and Gold Pearl leave a sheer tint of pearlescent highlight to any lacquer. Finally, the Blue Pearl Top Coat gives the illusion nails are glowing in several shades of pearlescent blues.
The campaign mirrors this sense of illusionary change, featuring bottles of nail varnish layered faintly over one another. Another boldly coloured image captures the mood by displaying fingertips painted in various colours from the collection, surrounded by bright butterfly wings fading into soft black shadows.
The Nail Transformations collection is available online, as well as at freestanding MAC stores.
