Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton F/W 2011

Paris: For his collection for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs imagined “an old hotel, with its chambermaids and the affairs that go on there, the crimes and scandals”. Models entered the runway through gilded elevator doors guarded by stone-faced porters, whose LV-printed leather hats also accessorized many of the models’ ensembles. Fetishism and obsession were other terms the designer used to describe his inspiration, and those elements were evident in the sheer panels, rubberized guipure lace pieces, tap pants, patent leather corset belts and kinky prints featuring whips, masks and high heels. Jacobs tamed the seductive pieces with prim sweaters, knee-length skirts, ladylike hourglass jackets and fit-and-flare dresses with sweet scalloped white collars. Plush furs and plastic paillette-covered pieces were all about luxury, as were the house’s famous bags, which accompanied nearly every look. Kate Moss closed the show in a rubberized lace top with fur sleeves style over sexy tap pants, the ultimate sultry guest in Jacobs’ fantasy hotel.
