On view this weekend only, the second U.S. edition of Paris Photo LA draws a wide showing of galleries and photographic works from around the world. This unique fair focused on the photographic medium takes place on the studio lots of Paramount Pictures. Three stages house 81 renowned international exhibitors while a walk down the New York backlot is dotted with small galleries, solo exhibitions and art book publishers such as Taschen and Printed Matter. Expect to see new and rare prints from Diane Arbus, Nan Goldin, William Eggleston, Helmut Newton, Ryan McGinley, Robert Mapplethorpe and Annie Leibovitz alongside emerging photographers. Gritty LAPD photo archives, the famed David Hockney BMW art car, a tribute to the photographs of Dennis Hopper and rare screening of his final film “The Last Movie,” and a host of food trucks are also onsite. This weekend’s schedule is packed with curated film screenings, artist conversations and book signings. – Chris Tsuyuki
