Back in September director Clement Beauvais released a short film shot on 16mm camera documenting an incredible road trip of French biker collective, Blitz Motorcycles. While the “Long Live The Kings” video has done the rounds on specialist denim blogs, we thought we would highlight to the wider audience who will no doubt appreciate the beautiful cinematography and choice selections of denim.
With roots in motorcycle culture, Edwin-Europe have recently been at the forefront the current movement of biker style, collaborating and supporting authentic motorcycles collectives across Europe. For S/S 13 they teamed up with Parisian-based petrol-heads Blitz Motorcycles for an concept collection of tough wearing denims and jackets built for the road. Continuing their support for the scene, the denim house has this time worked alongside directors Clement Beauvais and Arthur de Kersauson on their short film “Long Live The Kings”. Shot on a grainy 16mm film, the story follows the journey of Blitz Motorcycles men, Fred Jourden, Hugo Jezegabel and Perkins Lyautey as the trio take to the mountains and desert valleys on an open-ended trip of discovery.
Blitz member, Fred Jourden provides the narrative to the film, guiding the viewer through hopes and desires of what a motorcycle trip entails. As Jourden advises on the opening scene “You don’t need much for a motorcycle trip…obviously a good bike, some reliable gear and most importantly good friends”. Leather jackets and denim have become synonymous with biker uniforms since the 50s and still remain the core of the lifestyle today. Edwin keep true to this providing a wardrobe in traditional rider style. Raw selvedge jeans, heavy denim jackets and crisp chambray shirts sit perfectly alongside the riders personal jackets and the film progresses you see the denims create their own individuals wears.
