There’s something about London that I’ve always found so London-ish. I was thinking about this the other night at the pub while “London Calling” by The Clash was playing on the soundsystem (not kidding) after having gone for fish and chips (also not kidding – yes, I’m a cliche). The atmosphere here and the DIY style you see on the street and the music and the general irreverence that has grown from movements like mod and punk is still going strong – even as the rest of the world seems to further embrace conformity and uniformity. There’s no real word to describe it other than “Londonesque”. Here are photos I shot at the Topshop Unique and Basso & Brooke shows. (Did I mention that I’m in London?) xo eddie

  • Nice pics. I love London style too. I’m Scottish anyway so I suppose I am biased but I always feel the Brits are really creative and fun with fashion. Just look at some of the most famous British designers: Vivienne Westwood, Mary Quant, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano etc etc…
I think that Topshop sums up what UK fashion is all about whilst making it really accessible level. Can’t wait to see what else LFW offers.

  • Eddie, once again amazingly inspiring pix. Love the 2 in blue leggings, want that red fur and absolutely adore the Japanese girl and her ability to make superfluous adornment look authentic: the purse slung across her shoulder, the giant link necklace and the purple dangly thing from her bag. All the pix offer great styling tips and they are all original and unpretentious. All amazing, amazing, amazing. I can’t get enough. More, more … P.S. The Topshop Unique show blew me away – in a similar way to the divine 80’s influenced show by Marc Jacobs.

  • I love that British phone booth.

  • I hope I can bump into you!!!

  • I really like your blog!

  • I really love the photo of the girl with the red hair and the thigh highs- totally fierce.

  • Hi Maria – I’m really happy that you like my blog. Thank you!

Yoshi – perhaps we will run into each other? Are you in London? Do you go to fashion shows and cool parties and eat fish and chips late at night at Dionysus on Charing Cross Road?? If yes to any of the above, our chances of hanging out are greatly increased. 🙂

Karen – thank you for your thoughtful and insightful comments. I don’t write much about the effort and thought that goes into my photos (it’s more fun when presented as one big happy accident I think) but you seem to pick up on the subtlety and direction that I am pointing in without my spelling it out. (The Topshop Unique collection was great and very British!)

  • Love it! London has some of the coolest streetstyle the world has to offer! Love the shine on the blue leggings, the red COAT~!!! and of course the fur!

  • There is no city cooler than London as far as I’m concerned. I’m constantly looking for ways to move there from the US.

  • Becky

I love the red fur!!! She looks fab. All of the photos are very evocative of London. Great job.
