The latest contemporary London hotel from the Firmdale hotel group (the group behind Crosby Street Hotel in New York and London’s Soho Hotel) offers guests an “urban village” feel with a luxurious yet modern interior designed by its owner, the award-winning Kit Kemp. Based in Soho, the Ham Yard Hotel’s key features include a tree-filled garden and a specially-commissioned bronze sculpture by Tony Cragg, as well as its Soholistic Spa and Gym, an 188-seat theatre and a `50s style bowling alley.

Lending a stylish boutique feel, there are just 90 rooms and a further 24 apartments for residents as well as a private rooftop terrace for guests allowing unparalleled views over the city. We also have it on good authority that the Ham Yard Hotel’s restaurant and bar makes for a delicious pit stop for pre-, or post-theatre food with samples on the menu ranging from the house-glazed Ham Yard Ham to the wackier ice-cream sandwiches, as well as smaller plates such as the pulled pork sliders and barbequed octopus with pickled white cabbage, lime, chilli and mint. – Emily Cater
