Newly opened Russian restaurant Mari Vanna is a feast for the eye as well as the belly, offering traditional Russian cooking in a quirky yet glamorous setting in the heart of Knightsbridge. We love the vintage-inspired over-the-top interior styling including the Russian family portraits on the walls, Eastern European literature in the bookshelves and quirky knick-knacks and curious objects scattered over the two-storey eatery.
As well as serving some of the best Russian cooking in town, Mari Vanna hosts various events through out the week including a Russian film night, all you can eat pancake day (Tuesdays!), a magician evening as well as DJs playing ‘Soviet Swing, Russian Rockabilly and Perestroika Pop’. Try the horseradish or cucumber and dill infused vodka if you are feeling brave or pop in for lunch, delicious afternoon tea or a sturdy Russian dinner.
With restaurants in St Petersburg, Moscow and New York, Mari Vanna is soon to open in LA, with the London restaurant being the first European opening for this ever-growing food empire. – Anna Jacobsen
