In having fewer, established designers and bigger names than its fashion week counterparts, London continues to create space for and shine the spotlight on emerging talent.
Her Majesty aside, here are our Editors’ picks from a creative and refreshing season.

We can’t talk about LFW without mentioning Burberry. Lizzy and I were both charmed by the collection’s eclectic juxtaposition of subculture, streetwear and nostalgia. We loved how it’s layered context of memory and heritage was literally translated into a mélange of textural looks. Bailey’s final collection may have been a farewell, but in many ways it celebrated everything we love about London’s fashion scene – its youthful spirit, LGBTQ+ diversity, creativity and dedication to craftsmanship.

Perhaps, in choosing Richard Malone, I’m peaking too early – but day one, show one felt agenda-setting for a fashion week that celebrated the strength and resilience of women. An artisanal collection through an authentic lens, Malone’s narrative took us through the stalls of Wexford market. As a result, up-cycling and ‘making do’ were themes. From trousers of recycled viscose in ‘milk tray purple’, to machine washable evening gowns- Malone celebrates the extraordinary in the every day. The collection’s strength and attitude gave us a ‘ready-to-hustle’ vibe.

I adored Matty’s first solo-show; fun, eclectic and full of energy – this young designer is what London’s about for me. I’m a sucker for a story and I love that Matty’s collection is all hand-made in the garage of his folks place in Yorkshire. Matty’s signature eccentricity was delivered in hyper-hand-made textiles and enormous historic silhouettes, complete with a final walk of balloon-headed models – because, why not?
