The words “drive-thru” typically conjure up images of fast food, not high-end fashion. UK luxury retail giant, Selfridges, is changing that this holiday season. With the addition of a drive-thru at its famous Oxford Street location, starting November 15th, shoppers will be able to place orders via an attendant or collect orders placed online without ever having to leave their cars. Known as Click & Collect, the program aims to make holiday shopping a touch more convenient for Londoners this year. This is the first time that a retailer has launched such a service, and Selfridges is aiming to accommodate customers as quickly as three minutes in some cases. Simon Forster, Selfridges’ multi-channel director, promises that drive-thru customers can expect the same level of service already found inside of Selfridges, telling the London Evening Standard, “It will not just be the first drive-through service, it will be the best.” -Laura Batey
