LONDON: Christopher Kane Opens Debut Flagship Store

London-based designer Christopher Kane has opened his debut flagship store in Mayfair’s luxury retail destination Mount Street, where stores for Balenciaga, Roksanda Ilincic and Céline also reside. The store has been collaboratively designed by Christopher Kane and British architect John Pawson who brought his signature minimalism to the house’s first store. Based inside an Edwardian building, the 380sqm store is split over 2 floors, with womenswear on the ground floor and men’s in the basement. The light and airy space is sparsely furnished, allowing the designer to curate the space with special pieces, as well as showing off the colour gradient Perspex displays, and a floor to ceiling Totem from the lower ground floor, formed of glass cylinders. Handbags are displayed on floating shelves, clothing is hung on barely-there rails, while floor to ceiling mirrors heighten the luxury feel. –Emily Cater
