Paris: While supple second skins have been the fabric of choice this season, leather is in Loewe’s DNA and designer Stuart Vevers has a flawlessly modern approach to working with it. Moulded cocoon coats with sleek edges and exposed seams, aviator jackets, and structured sweaters with leather fronts were all highly covetable winter warmers. Contrasted with slinky foulard print silk dresses and blouses, glam 70s fur chubbies, sexy thigh-split skirts and strappy sandals, the collection nailed contemporary, effortless glamour. We could imagine it on disco-era socialites Bianca Jagger and Lou Lou de la Falaise in their heyday or Vanessa Triana, Carine Roitfeld and Gaia Repossi today. The Loewe name may not carry the same boldface resonance as, say, Givenchy or Céline, but Vevers is guiding the spanish brand ever closer, and this collection has all the ingredients to make it a front-row, editorial and model-off-duty favorite. — Natalie Shukur
