Loewe creative director Stuart Vevers merged the old and with the new this season, by exploring the traditional leather craftsmanship for which the 166-year-old Spanish fashion house is known, and integrating it into a modern, mostly all-black, masculine-meets-feminine collection. The show opened with luxe interpretations of two classic sporty items — the varsity jacket, which was fashioned out of heavy wool with leather sleeves and brass turn lock closures, and the baseball cap, also in leather. Circle skirts in leather or suede, and below-the-knee wool britches served as bottoms, and basic shift dresses gained interest from unique surface techniques like intricate laser-cutting, matte finishes or glazes. —Anna Jane Davis
