Pregnant and former pop star Lily Allen, who was scheduled to debut a smattering of the vintage offerings from her new store Lucy In Disguise at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival in late August, pulled out the first morning of the festivities due to reported morning sickness. She has redirected her debut to a pop-up shop in London’s Selfridges to give the eager public a taste of what’s to come when her proper shop opens 2-4 weeks from now. Allen and her business partner and sister Sarah vow that their vintage store will be affordable and accessible to her fan base, even though the pop-up boutique was brimming with vintage Lanvin and Chanel. Her Biba-esque logo, taste in designers, and admission that much of the initial stock has come from her own wardrobe suggest a 60s-80s vibe, with earlier pieces mixed in. Some of the garments will be rentable for 20% of the retail price, so wearing Lily Allen’s dress for one night is no longer a pipe dream.
