We love this new biannual magazine, and respective website by editor Rachel Maria Taylor and creative director Jody Daunton, which celebrates creative and honest individuals who explore and follow their personal aspirations.

Called Another Escape, the magazine comes out of Bristol – following in the footsteps of Stylesight favorite, Cereal Magazine.

For the second issue – recently published, and now available to purchase via the website – Taylor and Daunton feature a handful of “inspiring individuals” pursuing meaningful professions, such as cyclist Nick Hand of Slowcoast, and urban forager, John Rensten of Forage London (read our report Food Flavors for more on urban foraging and living off the land.)

In addition, through inspirational articles, Another Escape tells the stories of the growing number of urban beehives atop London’s high-rise tower blocks, and a “seventh generation miner” who journeys 200 feet below ground to retrieve natural ochre pigment – naturally, the magazine leans towards being sustainably focused, and praises those individuals re-connecting with the earth.

We celebrate the real people behind ideas, practices and processes; they are what make them interesting. These people are passionate and enthusiastic about what they do, and it is often their fervid spirits that most excite us.”

In our Megatrends forecast for S/S 14, Real, we move away from celebrity focused-culture, in favor of brands and media that celebrate the unaffected and honest lifestyles of ordinary folk.
